Abstract
The seminar highlights psychosocial interventions that research has shown to be effective for boys and girls at high risk of continued deviant behavior and relapse into crime. The seminar delves into the specifics of these interventions, elucidating their key elements and components. Additionally, it explores ineffective approaches and practices to avoid, shedding light on what does not work with the target group. The seminar also addresses strategies for organizing interventions and developing social and professional networks to optimize their impact on supporting families with youth engaged in deviant and criminal behavior. I will share how I have utilized some of the interventions and strategies when working with the target group.
The seminar employs a socioecological perspective influenced by psychologist Urie Bronfenbrenner, emphasizing the integration of adolescent deviant and criminal behavior into a multisystemic framework that takes into account both the individual and the family within a larger social context. This approach prioritizes holistic strategies and reveals the complexities inherent in supporting families with youth engaged in deviant and criminal behavior. In essence, the seminar provides a forum for interdisciplinary discussion and knowledge sharing, with the goal of empowering professionals to more effectively support families with adolescents showing deviant and criminal behavior.
